Employment Opportunity

Afterschool Program Coordinator/Director (Part-time)

Elite Scholars Christian Academy | Little Squiggles™
Home-Based Early Childhood & School-Age Program

Elite Scholars Christian Academy is preparing for an exciting new season of growth, and we are seeking a creative, organized, motivated, and child-centered Afterschool Program Coordinator/Director to help us develop and launch our new afterschool program.

This is not a traditional large center-based director position.

Our program operates within an intentional, home-based learning environment designed to offer children a smaller, more personalized experience. With a capacity of approximately 12 children at a time, our focus is on creating meaningful relationships, engaging experiences, strong family partnerships, and a program culture where children feel known, supported, and encouraged to grow.

Because this is a new program, the person stepping into this role will have the unique opportunity to help shape it from the beginning.

About the Role

The Afterschool Program Coordinator/Director will work closely with the Founder/Director to plan, develop, launch, promote, and oversee the afterschool component of Elite Scholars Christian Academy.

We are looking for someone who enjoys both building and leading.

The right person should be able to see the vision for a program and then help turn that vision into something families and children can actually experience. This role requires someone who can move comfortably between program planning, family engagement, administrative responsibilities, creative programming, promotion, and direct interaction with children.

Because we are intentionally small, this is a hands-on leadership role. The Coordinator/Director will not simply supervise from an office. They will be actively involved in creating the environment, supporting children, communicating with families, developing programming, and helping the program grow.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Launch

  • Collaborate with the Founder/Director in developing and launching the afterschool program.

  • Help establish the program's daily structure, routines, activities, enrichment opportunities, and overall experience.

  • Assist with developing policies, procedures, enrollment materials, family communications, and program systems.

  • Identify creative enrichment opportunities that reflect the interests and developmental needs of school-age children.

  • Help prepare the program space and materials for launch.

  • Participate in outreach, recruitment, open houses, community engagement, and other enrollment efforts.

Program Promotion & Enrollment

  • Help promote the afterschool program within the community and among prospective families.

  • Assist with social media content, flyers, outreach initiatives, family referrals, and community partnerships.

  • Respond professionally and warmly to prospective family inquiries.

  • Support tours, enrollment conversations, registration, and new-family orientation.

  • Help develop strategies for maintaining enrollment and strengthening family retention.

Daily Program Leadership

  • Oversee the daily operation of the afterschool program.

  • Create a safe, welcoming, structured, and engaging environment for children.

  • Develop and facilitate age-appropriate activities, projects, recreation, homework support, enrichment, and opportunities for creativity and leadership.

  • Establish consistent routines and expectations while recognizing children's individual needs.

  • Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure program expectations are followed.

  • Participate directly in programming and activities with children.

Family & Community Relationships

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with children and families.

  • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding program activities, schedules, needs, and concerns.

  • Help cultivate a strong sense of community and belonging among participating families.

  • Represent Elite Scholars Christian Academy professionally within the community.

Organization & Administration

  • Maintain required program records, attendance information, enrollment documentation, and other administrative materials.

  • Assist with scheduling, program calendars, supply management, and activity planning.

  • Support compliance with applicable program policies, licensing/regulatory requirements, health and safety practices, and documentation expectations.

  • Communicate regularly with the Founder/Director regarding enrollment, program needs, concerns, successes, and recommendations.

  • Help evaluate the program and identify opportunities for continued improvement and growth.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, relational, and genuinely enjoys working with children.

  • Creative and able to bring fresh ideas to afterschool programming.

  • Organized and able to turn ideas into systems and action.

  • Comfortable helping build something new rather than stepping into a fully established program.

  • Dependable, responsible, and able to take initiative.

  • Professional in communication with families and community partners.

  • Flexible and willing to wear multiple hats within a small-program environment.

  • Able to work collaboratively while also functioning independently.

  • Comfortable promoting a program and speaking with prospective families.

  • Committed to creating an environment where children feel safe, valued, capable, and connected.

  • Able to understand that a home-based program can be both nurturing and highly professional.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with school-age children in an afterschool, child care, education, recreation, youth development, camp, or related setting.

  • Experience coordinating, supervising, or leading children's programming.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Experience developing activities, enrichment programming, or curriculum is preferred.

  • Experience with family engagement, enrollment, outreach, or program promotion is a plus.

  • Knowledge of child development and positive behavior-support practices.

  • Appropriate education, training, clearances, certifications, and/or regulatory qualifications required for the position.

A Different Kind of Leadership Opportunity

This position may be especially meaningful for someone who wants more than a traditional afterschool job.

You will have the opportunity to help build something.

Your ideas will matter.

Your creativity will matter.

Your relationships with children and families will matter.

And because our program intentionally serves a small number of children, leadership here is personal. You will have the opportunity to truly know the children you serve, help shape the culture of the program, and see the direct impact of your work.

If you are a creative educator or youth-development professional who enjoys taking an idea from vision to launch to impact, we would love to hear from you.
